Desert Hills Community School of Music


Desert Hills Community School of Music serves the North Scottsdale, Carefree, and Cave Creek areas with world-class music instruction for all ages and ability levels. Located at the foot of the boulders on the scenic campus of Desert Hills Presbyterian Church, our offerings include:


  • Group and private music lessons for keyboard (piano, organ), plucked strings (harp, guitar, ukulele, mandolin), woodwinds (flute, clarinet, oboe, saxophone), brass (trumpet, French horn, trombone, baritone/euphonium, tuba), strings (violin, viola, cello, double bass), and voice

 

  • An audition-based Advanced Music Program (AMP) for children ages 7-18 who show extraordinary dedication to musical excellence


  • A Music Exploration program for children ages 6-10 who show early interest in music


  • Ensembles for all ages, including Community Band, Saxophone Ensemble, Flute Choir, and five different Youth Ensembles


  • Recording Studio Lab, a hands-on class that teaches the art and science of music recording and production


  • Instrument-specific masterclasses, in partnership with the Scottsdale Philharmonic, to help students prepare for Regional and All-State band and orchestra auditions

Piano Competition Applications due Feb. 22


The application window is open for the second annual Desert Hills Piano Competition. Those who pass the preliminary (online) round will perform before a panel of distinguished judges on March 22. Prize winners will perform at Tempe Center for the Arts on April 27.

Saxophone Ensemble concert Mar. 2, 4pm


The Desert Hills Community Saxophone Ensemble presents "An Afternoon at the Oscars: Award-winning music from the past 100 years" on Sunday, March 2 at 4:00 p.m. This free concert will be held in the DHPC sanctuary and is open to the public.
